"I love designing and making great spaces, experience, and things that enrich the built world and the quality of people’s lives."

Hello,

My name is Arthur and I’m a dedicated designer with experience in architectural design, interior design, furniture design and teaching design at a college level. I’m proficient in driving projects from start to finish for commercial and residential clients, commanding projects from initial client meetings, master planning, and schematic design, to project management, construction documentation and construction administration. I enjoy working with clients, teammates, and end-users to enhance the world around us.

Architectural Designer

I worked for Galbraith Carnahan Architects for two years leading and designing projects from new construction to remodeling, from restaurants and event spaces to large multifamily developments. I was involved in every aspect of a project including meeting with clients and selling proposals, making schematic design models, drafting construction documents, project management, and construction administration. I designed building exteriors and interiors down to the last detail including material and finish and hardware schedules. While at GCA I saw to completion a number of commercial spaces and carried through the planning and design of the first true Pocket Neighborhood in Wisconsin, which just passed its first round of approvals and is moving forward to public hearings and permitting.

Interior Design-Build and Furniture Design

For 7 years, I was a founding partner of the Good Land Studio, a design-build practice specializing in original custom interiors and handcrafted modern furniture. Together with my partner, Ben, we designed, fabricated, and installed the popular restaurant Rice N Roll in Milwaukee. My role involved client interactions, building 3D models of conceptual proposals, and handcrafting custom furnishings from raw materials to finished heirloom quality furnishings. I excel in designing beautiful products centered on process, natural material properties.

Design Instructor

For 4 years I worked as a design instructor at Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. I taught classes of 14-26 students at a time in 3D modeling using SketchUp and making photorealistic renderings in SU Podium. Additionally, I taught drafting construction documents in ArchiCad. Furthermore, I  taught classes in furniture design and making, with students designing and completing original hardwood chairs from start to finish. For each class, I developed my own curriculum and projects that break down the complex task of 2D and 3D design and visualization, and fabrication into easy-to-follow small victories that every student could succeed in. Students who completed my classes go from little to no experience, to producing first-rate professional work with many landing internships as early as sophomore year.
